Manta Divers, March, 2012 Local Diving Schedule
Well, when the days begin to get longer, my mind turns to diving and the fun we have in store for the summer. I have many dates scheduled at varying venues to keep us busy all season.
For any of you who have not joined us on a local dive, you are truly missing out. We usually meet at the venue in the morning with our gear, a picnic lunch and plenty of water or other beverages to keep you well hydrated. While our instructors usually have students for training dives, there are plenty of certified divers in the group that are just along to practice and have some fun, so it is easy to find a dive buddy. In this casual, friendly atmosphere, divers of all experience levels will find their passion for diving enhanced by the camaraderie and helpfulness of Team Manta.
If you need to complete your Open Water Dives, or Advanced Open Water dives, bear in mind that these must be completed over at least two days. That means you can finish them all in one weekend, or split them up over several weekend days. It is important that you get your name on the schedule and reserve any equipment you need in advance of the activity. It also ensures that we will have all the necessary props and supplies for whatever training you are getting.
Rescue Diver open water training is scheduled for July 7 at Pearl Lake, July 14 and 15 at Haigh Quarry. Candidates need to participate in exercises on two of these days. In order to participate in this training, divers must have successfully completed the academic sessions and of course, their EFR training.
Night diving is particularly fun, and we can do them on any Saturday of a two day. If you are interested in night dive specialty, or a night dive adventure dive (for Advanced open water), or if you simply want to join in for fun, put your reservation in so we are sure to have logistics in place for that.
We are offering Search and Recovery Specialty in Three Lakes, WI June 30 and July 1, and at Lake Wazee July 21 & 22. There is one classroom session required and that is scheduled for June 27 at 6:30pm at the shop.
We are heading to the big pond, Lake Michigan in August to dive two of her famous wrecks, the Prins Willem V and the Dredge. Spots are limited, so get your reservations in early to ensure your spot.
At Manta Divers, we believe that the best divers are those who dive often. It also makes sense to get the most out of that gear you've purchased. Check out the summer dive schedule on our calendar page and get ready for some underwater fun!
